2017-06-25 - Internship at VdW and trainee recap!

Hi everyone!

I have now finished my internship at our owners, Van de Wiele (VdW), where I stayed for a total of three weeks. It was a great experience as I have deepened my knowledge in VdW’s machines and products as well as our own products in these machines. I believe this will be of great use as I continue my work here at Aros with VdW projects.

2017-05-07 - First trip to Van De Wiele & Belgium!

As I have mentioned in an earlier blogpost, I will be project manager for two new projects for our owners Van De Wiele (VDW). VDW is set to participate in the International Textile Machinery Association (ITMA) exhibition in Barcelona 2019 and they have some new, very interesting projects coming up.

2017-04-21 - We did it!

Last week Aros competed in Scandinavia’s largest obstacle race, Tough Viking!

We had our ups and downs during the race but we prevailed and conquered many challenging obstacles. We competed as a team and really pushed each other. It also helped that many colleagues came to watch and cheer for us, which gave us extra energy!

2017-04-18 - Six Sigma Project!

Hello guys,

This is just a short update about Aros’ Six Sigma project. Thus far we have performed the Affinity-Interrelationship Method (AIM) here at Aros. This is a method used to analyze complex problems and to get a common understanding of the problem. This was done at Aros and six colleagues were invited including our quality manager, test manager, a product coordinator and three people from the service department. Furthermore, we did effective scoping as well as a measurement system analysis (MSA) on the data collection.

2017-04-15 - Motor control

A couple of weeks ago my motor control PCB was manufactured in our production facility and I had the opportunity to follow the whole manufacturing process up close. It was a good experience and a special feeling seeing my very own PCB being produced.

2017-04-03 - Aros and IRO in Hemsedal!

Last weekend Aros and IRO, our sister company, went on a 4-day trip to Hemsedal. We stayed in three enormous cottages located right next to the ski slope.

2017-02-27 - AfterCHARM at Aros!

Hey there!

Last week we had our annual AfterCHARM event here at Aros. This year approximately 50 students from Chalmers showed up. It was exciting seeing so many students at Aros and I recognized most of the students from the fairs we have attended.

2017-02-08 - Aros Electronics at CHARM!

First, thanks to all the students showing up at our booth at CHARM! I was amazed by how many students were interested in our company and knew about us.

A lot of students were excited by our two trainee positions that are open to apply for. To quote one of the students: “There is no point in applying for Aros’ trainee position, it’s so hyped”. I found this quote particularly memorable since it is a sign that we have done a good job at previous work fairs.

2017-02-02 - Tough Viking with Aros!

Hello!

Aros is now officially signed up for Tough Viking! Tough Viking takes place in Slottsskogen the 23rd of April and is the largest obstacle race in Scandinavia. I have managed to convince 10 ‘Arosites’ to sign up and we will compete and run together as a team.

2017-01-30 - After work!

Hi there!

Last Friday it was time for AW once again. We went to O’Learys at Mölndalsvägen and had a nice dinner with good food and drinks which was followed up with some impressively high-level bowling. I think I should have won the bowling contest but it seemed to be something wrong with my bowling ball…

2017-01-20 - Six Sigma Black Belt!

Hey guys!

This spring I will spend two days every other week in a lecture hall at Chalmers, attending a Six Sigma Black Belt course. In short, Six Sigma is a method and technique that uses a set of tools to make process improvement.

2017-01-12 - Project management course in Båstad!

Hello guys!

I have now finished a five-day course in project management. The course, which was divided in two occasions of three and two days respectively, was held in Båstad and it was only me and seven other people in attendance. It was a great group and everyone was eager to share their own experiences and problems, which made for some enlightening discussions.

2016-11-28 - SPS IPC Drives 2016 in Nuremberg!

Hello guys!

This past Thursday I finally set my foot on home soil after a couple of intense days at the SPS Drives fair in Nuremberg. My fellow coworker Per and I, left for Nuremberg early Wednesday morning and arrived at lunchtime. We met up with two, early-arriving colleagues who shared with us some practical information coupled with advice of what to look for at the fair.

2016-11-11 - Aros at DatE-IT!

Hello guys!

Earlier this week Aros went to Chalmers for the labor fair, DatE-IT, which provides a platform for students and companies in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology to meet up. There were a lot of students in attendance so we really had our hands full all day! We mainly talked to the students about master thesis-work opportunities, our trainee positon as well as Aros as a company.

2016-10-27 - HW project and pub-crawl with Aros!

Hi everyone!

The past couple of weeks I have worked with the layout of my PCB and I have now finalized my design. I had the layout reviewed by a coworker who gave me some insightful feedback. Next step is to order some PCBs and prepare the production documentation and material so the circuit board can be produced in our in-house production later this year.

2016-10-17 - More EMC-testing!

This week I joined my colleague, Rolf, to Swerea IVF to perform EMC-testing on one of our products. The first test we performed was fast transient burst. In this test the product received a repetitive burst of pulses with very short rise time, duration and high voltage.  The product was conductive coupled to the burst generator and subjected to pulses up to 4kV in both polarities.

Also, a surge test was performed on the product. These pulses have a higher rise time than the burst pulses and are generated by a generator with low output impedance, resulting in high currents and thus high amounts of energy.

2016-10-10 - IRO Aros Project Awards!

Hi everyone!

A few days ago, Aros and our Ulricehamn-based sister company IRO met up for an annual, super-competitive event that includes different sports and activities. While this event has traditionally been a competition between Aros and IRO´s development departments, this year’s edition marked a fundamental change: Instead of separating Aros and IRO into two different teams the teams were mixed, based on common projects and products. We decided to name this newer and better version of the competition “The IRO Aros Project Awards”.

2016-10-03 - Back from Stockholm!

After a pleasant 3-hour train ride, I arrived safely in Gothenburg the other day. Stockholm was fun, but there is no place like home!

I went to Stockholm for a three-day course in OrCAD PCB Editor at Gateline, which was both interesting and fun. I had a really good time at Gateline in Stockholm and I liked how the course was structured in a balanced mix of lectures and tutorials.

2016-09-12 - Company activity!

Hello again!

Last week the whole company went on a Schooner trip in Gothenburg’s archipelago. The weather was nice and I believe I speak for everybody when I say that we had a really good time. We had the opportunity to climb the masts of the ship and most of us had the courage!

2016-09-08 - Hardware training & startup of my project!

Hi!

This past week I spent a few days going through Aros’ hardware training program. The program included a number of internal courses in subjects such as hardware construction, PCB design, component properties, EMC, ESD and laboratory safety. Accompanied by one fellow Aros employee, the two of us got the opportunity to attend lectures and spend a lot of time with very knowledgeable personnel. The whole experience was very educational and since only a handful of people received the training it became more of a tutoring session where I received satisfying answers to all my questions.

2016-08-29 - Introduction to Aros Electronics!

Hello again!

I have now finished my introduction here at Aros. The introduction lasted for two weeks and focus was on the production department.

During these two weeks I had a lot of meetings with personnel from different areas of the company. At these meetings the personnel presented their role here at Aros and the goals they are working towards. I also had meetings with the head of production who presented the organization, way of work, production strategies and much more. These meetings gave me a really good overview of the company and I got to know a lot of people.
