Trainee blog

Welcome to Aros electronics trainee blog 2015/2016. This blog is maintained by Cecilia Karlsson, new M.Sc graduate from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden. I started here at Aros electronics in late Aug. 2015 and will be working as trainee for a total of 12 months.

2016-10-13 - Home again -

After 7 very interesting and informative weeks in Wuxi, China, I am now very glad to be back in Sweden since almost two weeks. Right now I am mostly glad to be back at home and able to meet my family and friends again, and I have barely had time to reflect on the time in China. What I do feel is that the trip has been very educating and I think I have learned a lot about IWTC, how they work and also much about Chinese culture. I did not really know what to expect before I went there, but I can say now that it was all exceeding my expectations in a very good way!

2016-09-09 - Half time

Today I have been in China 3,5 weeks and half of my time here has already passed. The first chock of arriving in such a different country and knowing that I will stay here for quite long without seeing my family is over and I'm starting to get used to how things work here. The schedule has been full every day at IWTC and I like it. I much rather have too much to do than sitting around and waiting!

2016-08-19 - Ni Hao from China!

This is my third day at IWTC and so far everything is very good. I arrived Tuesday evening and was at first a bit lost as I was alone and it was all a bit overwhelming but after my first meeting at IWTC it all felt much better since everyone is very nice here! I have been working with Martin from IRO to solve some issues with the production of a motor product and I think it has been a lot of fun. It is very much problem solving and trying to find the root cause of the issues which is interesting and is giving a lot of experience of how they work here in China.

2016-08-11 - Soon China!

Hello!

I only had three weeks of vacation and I left quite early in the season so it has been quite empty here at Aros the last couple of weeks as many are still on their vacation. The board I constructed in my most recent project has been built while I was away and awaited me when I returned so I have been testing and verifying the hardware on that a lot. It seems that the board works well and only needed some minor adjustments. I have learnt a lot from doing my own construction and verifying it myself. I have gotten a lot of really good help from my colleagues a well.

2016-04-13 - Testing testing...

Hello!

The past month I have been focusing on the Six sigma course and also getting my board to work. I have also attended the second part of the project management course in Torekov which was just as good as the first one. This part was more focused on leadership and how to act and encourage different personality types, also depending on their own knowledge in the subject. There are some different styles of leadership to use in order to get the best result for the different situations. It concluded the course well and I am looking forward to test my new skills sometime in the future!

Beautiful view in Torekov

2016-02-08 - Puh!

Glenn, Magnus and Jakob talking to students in our booth.

The CHARM-fair is over and I hope I got to talk to some of you there! Bartos as we called our doll performed well and did as he was told so I am happy. I included a short movie below from our booth at the fair so those of you who weren’t there understand what I mean. We had a lot of visits from students that wanted to know more about the company and I thought it was a lot of fun to get to tell them about it.

2016-01-22 - Snow and skiing

Some days ago it came a lot a lot of snow to Gothenburg ( compared to how it usually is) and it was therefore decided with short notice to have the traditional (when the weather allows) skiing competition here at Aros, AOSSMC! A track of around 500 meters was drawn up by our eminent track manager and around 15 people from the company and also customers participated. We who are not so very comfortable with skiing stood along the track and cheered the competitors along. They all performed very well and it was really fun to watch!

2015-12-04 - Another fair

Last week I attended the SPS fair in Nürnberg, Germany which was very interesting. I talked to a lot of people in different companies and I also got some useful information about the project I am working on here at Aros. There were many exhibitors and all were connected to drive systems in some way. I got a lot of information and some useful insight into the market that Aros is part of.

2015-11-17 - A Lot of Layout

Hej!

Over the last few weeks I have been continuing on my project with developing a data communication board. The schematic is finished and I have been fixing a lot with the layout of the board. It has been quite tricky and harder than I thought, but after some revisions I think it is starting to become really nice. The more time you spend on using the layout-program, the easier it gets, and the more obvious the positioning of the components becomes. I have gotten a lot of help from the very excellent experts here at Aros which has been great.

2015-10-21 - BusWorld in Kortrijk

Hello!

Outside Van de Wiele in Kortrijk

This weekend I visited Kortrijk in Belgium. After what felt like a long travel the train took me to Kortrijk and I met up with Oskar who is currently there working for Van the Wiele. They make weaving machines that produce carpets and fabric of different qualities and changeable patterns. We had a quick lunch before we went to Van de Wiele to get a tour of some buildings and the machines they develop and produce. It seemed that the most technology was in being able to change and produce advanced patterns and motives on the carpets. The machines are huge and very impressing. There’s a lot more technology to making carpets that I had ever thought. It was a lot of fun to learn about the technique and see how the machines worked.

2015-10-13 - New update from Aros trainee!

Hello again!

Over the last few weeks I have started working with my first project. It is a technology development project, but I will follow the process of a product development project in order to understand the documentation and tasks that will arise in this. The project is to design a new circuit board that includes a few different data communication interfaces. As this is a new subject to me coming from the electric power master, I have been doing a lot of studying and I have also been getting a lot of help from the experts at Aros. So far it has been a lot of fun, and I am learning very much.

2015-09-09 - I'm the new trainee at Aros!

Hello!

My name is Cecilia and I am the new trainee at Aros Electronics AB. I am from Ulricehamn, and moved to Göteborg in 2010 when I started Chalmers. I have just finished my studies in electric engineering, and I have a master degree in electric power engineering. I applied for the job as a trainee at Aros this spring and after a long and not so very warm summer I look forward to start working here at Aros!
